This interactive database summarizes quarterly subscriber growth trends for over 75 major broadband service providers (BSPs) operating across Europe. At the end of the second quarter of 2009, these service providers delivered broadband service to over 102 million customers – representing over 75% of the total broadband installed base in the region.

Germany added only 727,000 residential broadband subscribers in Q209, compared to 1.1 million in the same quarter last year. This represents one of the lowest quarters in terms of residential net new additions recently. The small number of additions this quarter reflects the rapidly maturing German market— approaching 66% broadband penetration at the end of 2009. A highly fragmented market, Germany claims over nine major broadband service providers (BSPs) with a combined share of nearly 90% of the market. Strategy Analytics expects to see continued M&A activity in the upcoming year.
